A multidisciplinary art practice grounded in whakapapa, material knowledge, place and the continuing possibilities of customary and contemporary Māori practice.
Te Tuarongo is a major architectural artwork commissioned for the wharenui within Waikato’s new mental health and addictions facility. This piece supports a broader kaupapa of restoration, healing and return.
Pan-Tiki was developed as a large-scale public artwork for the Hamilton–Chengdu Friendship Walk in Tianfu, China, contributing to a significant civic and international cultural exchange between the two sister cities.
Tupu-a-nuku + Waiti in Wharenui Harikoa were made in collaboration with contemporary artists Lissy and Rudi Robinson-Cole. We then went on to build Punanga Pohewa – Waka of Dreams together.
From concept through fabrication and installation
Material knowledge sits at the centre of my practice. Projects can move through research, drawing, modelling, carving, digital fabrication, woodworking, surface finishing and installation.
I am interested not only in the final form of a work, but in how it is made, where it belongs, how it will age and the relationships required to bring it into being.
